Weekend’s coming up again, 25 March Parade tomorrow, Annunciation… Sarpidonistas have done a fabulous job, the village has become really pretty, as a matter of fact, it has changed its look completely, and all this with your help!
FINISHING TOUCH
The heavy work, however, should be rounded off now slowly, so we can prepare for the upcoming summer season. Certainly, work hasn’t finished yet, and with the enthusiasm and at the rate we’re going, we could go on for ages! New projects, meanwhile, will be initiated after the summer.
A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHT
Another hot potato is - of course - the financial situation of the Sarpidonistas. We are a group on voluntary basis. All of the things done in Malia have been accomplished with your help, building material has been offered, other things have been paid of our own pockets, tools and machinery have been borrowed to us, men, women and children have supported us and worked with us…
Fact remains however: to do right and finish what we’ve started in Malia, we need money. It’s that simple. So we have started procedures to try and get sponsorships and donations at several companies, enterprises and other institutions. At the same time, we keep stressing the fact that each and every financial support is necessary.
OPERATION WASH ‘N’ GO
Another thing: We were thinking to clean/sweep/wash our Old Town – partially – this weekend, so we can finish the neighbourhoods one by one: Malia’s Old Town has to be clean and in shape for the upcoming summer season.
We’ll gather once again – whoever can and whoever wants, of course! - this coming Sunday at 12:00h (noon) at our usual meeting point, the big church of Agios Nektarios. Depending on participation, we will split into groups and work in smaller units in several locations in the Old Town.
Should you feel like helping out this Saturday as well, just come and meet us in the Old Town’s neighbourhoods; one or another Sarpidonistas will always be available and willing to tell you where your help is needed.
